Completed project during November 2025
The project titled “Rain Water Reservoir for Fire Safety and Skill Training Centre, Nagaland,” sanctioned on 9 March 2023 at a cost of Rs 381.795 lakh, was completed in November 2025. The project enhances fire-safety infrastructure and disaster-response capabilities, particularly in Nagaland’s inter-state border areas. It includes rainwater-harvesting reservoirs at key locations in Dimapur (Assam border) and Khuzama (Manipur border) to support firefighting operations.
The project also covers the development of essential facilities at the Skill Training Centre, Chiechama, including residential quarters, barracks, kitchens, classrooms, a drill shed, office space, and a playground. The centre will offer structured training programmes to equip educated unemployed youth with professional fire-safety skills, creating employment opportunities in both government and private sectors.
Additional water reservoirs at major fire stations in Dimapur Central, Dimapur West, Khuzama, and Chiechama will further strengthen emergency preparedness, given the high incidence of fire-related disasters and the Nagaland Fire & Emergency Service’s frequent assistance to neighbouring states. This infrastructure is both timely and critical.
Bamboo-Based Craft Concentration Centre, Nagaland
Established at Sovima Village, Dimapur, at a cost of Rs 4.48 crore, the Bamboo-Based Craft Concentration Centre serves as a comprehensive facility for bamboo artisans. It features a Craft Eco-Museum for preserving traditional crafts, a craft design lab for innovation, and facilities for natural dyeing and weaving.
The project has significantly contributed to revitalising traditional crafts in the North East by providing artisans with a modern platform to re-engage with their skills and enhance their livelihoods. It also promotes employment generation and skill development.
