Phase-III initiative targets education, health, child labour, migration, and youth awareness across Mon district
The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) on Monday launched Phase-III of its “Education Wheel Tour,” an ambitious eight-day district-wide campaign that will cover 124 villages across Mon with a focus on education, health, and key grassroots social issues.
Flagged off by Mon Superintendent of Police Kanchan Kumar Kandpal at Mon headquarters in the presence of officials and frontal organisations, the initiative aims to directly engage with rural communities and assess challenges affecting people at the grassroots.
Beyond educational outreach, the union said the tour will also drive awareness on prevention of anti-social elements, wildlife conservation, migration-related concerns, child labour, girl child education, coaching and guidance for Army recruitment, and preservation of indigenous identity under the message, “Your Language is your Identity.”
KSU stated that the large-scale campaign reflects its belief that Mon’s future depends on awareness, discipline, education, and collective public participation.
Underscoring broader developmental concerns, the union also expressed worry over lapses in various government sectors, which it said have negatively impacted the welfare and progress of the region.
Conducted in collaboration with the district administration and security forces, the tour is expected to serve both as a public awareness drive and a platform to highlight pressing issues faced by villages across Mon district.
Calling it a historic initiative, KSU appealed to villages, civil societies, youth bodies, and citizens to extend support for the successful completion of the campaign.
