299 qualified, 31 failed while 272 remained absent during oral and practical tests
The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has completed its assessment process for applicants under the skilled labour category from various wards under Mokokchung town and neighbouring villages, with 299 applicants qualifying for labour registration.
According to a notification issued by MMC Chief Executive Officer and ADC Atsungba Walling, the assessment exercise included oral/theoretical examinations conducted from March 9 to 14, 2026, aimed at evaluating the technical knowledge, experience and competency of applicants in their respective trades.
The municipal council also conducted a Practical Skill Test for applicants under the Building Masonry category from April 28 to 30, during which candidates were assessed in layout, brick laying, bar bending and binding, and plastering.
A total of 602 applicants had applied under the skilled labour category. Out of these, 398 appeared for the examinations while 272 applicants remained absent during the oral and practical tests. The municipal council informed that 299 applicants qualified while 31 applicants were declared unqualified.

According to the notification, 194 applicants were called for the practical examination under the masonry category, of which 68 remained absent. Applicants under other skilled trades, along with candidates securing high marks in the oral/theoretical examination under the Skilled Masonry (Building) category, were evaluated based on their oral/theoretical performance.
The MMC stated that the assessment exercise was conducted in the interest of ensuring “transparency, fairness, accountability, and proper regulation of labour registration” within the municipal jurisdiction.
The MMC also acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by members of the Labour Technical Committee, Ward Authorities and line departments including the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Public Works Department (PWD), and CAWD throughout the assessment process.
The MMC further informed that applicants who remained absent during the examinations would be required to reapply during the next phase of assessment. Skilled labourers who did not apply in the previous phase have also been asked to procure the prescribed forms and apply within the period to be notified by the municipal council.
The notification added that the results of the assessment would be displayed on the MMC notice board and that both qualified and unqualified applicants would be issued labour cards by the municipal council.
