Kohima, 14 September: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a four-day weather outlook for all districts from September 15 to 18, advising residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of rainfall.
On September 15, Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon are likely to receive light to moderate rain, while Noklak and Tuensang may experience thunderstorms and lightning with light rain. Dimapur, Peren and Phek are likely to witness thunderstorms and lightning, while Wokha may receive light rain. Partly cloudy conditions are expected in Chumoukedima, Kiphire, Kohima, Meluri, Niuland, Shamator, Tseminyu and Zunheboto.
On September 16, thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain are expected in Longleng and Mon. Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto may experience thunderstorms and lightning with light rain. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in Meluri, Peren and Phek, while Kiphire has no active weather warning.
No active weather warning has been issued for any district on September 17.
On September 18, thunderstorms and lightning with light rain are expected in Noklak, Phek, Shamator and Zunheboto, while Kiphire and Meluri may experience thunderstorms and lightning. Light rain is likely in Mon and Tuensang. Overcast conditions are expected in Peren, Tseminyu and Wokha, while Chumoukedima, Kohima and Niuland may remain partly cloudy. No active weather warning is issued for Dimapur, Longleng and Mokokchung.
The NSDMA stated that the highest cumulative rainfall during the four-day period is expected in Longleng at 42.96 mm, followed by Mon at 40.66 mm, Mokokchung at 34.80 mm, Tuensang at 26.99 mm, Noklak at 26.85 mm and Wokha at 22.88 mm. Shamator and Zunheboto are expected to receive 17.78 mm and 17.10 mm respectively.
The public has been advised to monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and rainfall.
