Niuland, July 23 (MTNews): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and frontal NGOs of Niuland district on Saturday has passed some resolutions on pertinent issues such as developmental problem, unabated taxation by Naga political groups (NPGs), land allotment and free flow of alcohol and drugs into the district.

 

 

The resolutions were passed at the WSH’s coordination meeting with several leading NGOs of the newly created district including the Niuland District GBs’ Association, Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum, Niuland Development Council, Niuland Area GBs Association, Niuland Area Totimi Hoho and Niuland Area Students’ Union, at the DC conference hall in Niuland Town, WSH informed in a press release on Saturday.

 

“A resolution not to pay taxes to any underground faction was resolved at the meeting as this has become the main reason for hampering the growth and development of Niuland in every sphere,” the WSH said.

 

It also said that “lapses and omissions in the land allotment by Niuland district administration to various individuals without following proper norms will be investigated for which a five-man committee has been set up for the purpose.”

 

“Land donors were also asked not to ask for any land compensation from the government as development belongs to all,” it added. Further, Students Union, Totimi Hoho and Citizens Forum of Niuland were assigned to check the free flow of alcohol and drugs in Niuland which is reportedly becoming a menace and ruining lives of many youths, families and posing a social problem.

 

The WSH also appealed to all entrepreneurs and business houses to invest without fear in Niuland district as it has a high economic prospect due to its close proximity to Assam. It also said that, with the coming of the Nagaland Expressway also popularly known as the Foothill Road, Niuland will become an educational hub and a commercial hub.
