Mokokchung, May 24 (MTNews): The Arkong Ward Sanitation Committee inaugurated a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centre at Yongpang Market in Arkong Ward, Mokokchung, on Wednesday. This center is part of the “Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shehar” campaign initiated by the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban 2.0.

The RRR Centre was established through the collaborative efforts of the Arkong Ward sanitation committee, Ward Council, Youth Association (Rongpang Reju), Arkong Watsü unit, and the Arkong Youth Fellowship.

A representative from the MMC explained that the concept behind the RRR Centre is to collect used or unused spare clothes, shoes, books, electronic appliances, and other useful items. These items will be displayed at the center, and those in need will be able to take them home for free.

The sanitation committee further announced that the RRR Centre will be jointly monitored and managed by all the groups and organizations in the ward, taking turns until June 5. The chairman of the ward praised the remarkable united efforts of all the concerned groups and residents of the colony.

The RRR Centre has already received contributions such as old e-waste, potted flowers, bags, clothes, shoes, books, and electronic appliances from the community.

In addition to the RRR Centre in Arkong Ward, similar centers will be set up in the MMC Complex, Aongza Ward, Salangtem Ward, and Imkong Place. The Mokokchung Municipal Council plans to organize a competition among these centers, focusing on specific areas to encourage participation and excellence.

The RRR Centre initiative will culminate on June 5, 2023, coinciding with World Environment Day. It serves as a reminder for individuals and communities to take responsibility for preserving the environment and adopting sustainable practices that contribute to a cleaner and greener future.
