A capacity building program was conducted on 18th of April 2022 at Khensa Village by ATMA Mokokchung, Ongpangkong South block.


Resource person Akangjungshi Jamir ATM, ATMA enlightened the farmers with step by step procedure on cultivation of oyster mushroom by giving hands-on demonstration. He further highlighted on the importance of oyster mushroom cultivation, the advantage of it being economically viable and more convenient. Altogether 18 farmers attended the program and inputs such as oyster mushroom spawn, seeds and farm tools were distributed among the farmers.

 

A capacity building program on “Value addition of Banana and Ginger” was conducted on 19th of April 2022 at Longkhum village by ATMA, Mokokchung, Ongpangkong South Block.
Resource person Lipokrenla Pongen, ATM, ATMA highlighted on the importance of value addition for horticultural crops and the income generating means from perishing fruits after yield.
The farmers were taught step by step process on preparation of banana cake with the available resources and ginger candy which could yield them an income. The farmers were also taught the importance of proper packaging and labelling of their products.

Altogether 16 farmers attended the capacity building program. Inputs such as packaging materials and baking tools were distributed to the farmers.

 

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mokokchung, Chuchuyimlang Block conducted a demonstration program on 19th April, 2022 at Yaongyimti Old village.
Demonstration on “Cultivation practices of Watermelon” was conducted by resource person Chubaienla Jamir, ATM. She briefed the farmers on package of practices on cultivation of watermelon and emphasized on the importance of crop rotation and intercropping. Further, hands-on demonstration was carried out both in the field as well as using seed trays.
Altogether, 11 farmers participated in the program. Seed trays, seeds, fertilizers and farm tools were distributed to the farmers.

 

ATMA, Changtongya Block Mokokchung conducted a capacity building program on “Value Addition of Brinjal (Eggplant) and Tomato” for Food Security Group (FSGs) and Self Help Group (SHGs) on 19th April 2022 at Unger Village where Toshirenla T Longkumer, Assistant Technology Manager ATMA imparted step by step procedures on how to prepare Brinjal pickle and Tomato sauce. The purpose of the training was to ensure the reduction of losses and increase in the profit of farm women involved in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables through processing. Later, zip pouch and glass jars were distributed to each farmer. Altogether 25 female farmers attended the training program.

 

A demonstration was also conducted on “Cultivation practices of Okra” where resource person Tajungsola Jamir, ATM, Changtongya Block gave hands-on demonstration on preparation of seedbed followed by seed sowing where proper spacing requirement of the plant was given. Further, the farmers were highlighted on the importance of irrigation during flowering and pod formation stage, identification and management of some important pests and diseases associated with the crop. Altogether 15 female farmers attended the demonstration program. Inputs like seeds and bio-pesticides were distributed to each farmer.
