Behold the Nagas, drifting back and forth,

In the wilderness, bartering their worth;

Led by leaders drawn to ‘economic packages’,

Having blurred the vision of a bygone age.

Like the Israelites who yearned for Egypt,

They seem to have lost their God-given script;

Lured away by the promise of comfort and wealth,

At the expense of their beloved nation’s health.

The Cause their fathers once bravely espoused,

By ignorant leaders of today is sadly doused,

Through their depraved craving for short-term gain,

And dreams of a life of comfort, free from pain.

So the rainbow-streaked flag, cast forlorn,

Flies only in the hearts of those truly born

Of Naga soil, who still hold the Cause dear,

And are willing to sacrifice and persevere.

Future generations shall look back upon this day,

And judge whether money had the greater say

Than the blood and sacrifices of brave warriors

Who never bowed, but fought against alien powers.
