A five-day skill enhancement workshop on artisan enterprise development and supply chain building in Sikki grass art is being held from February 5 to 9, 2025, in Pandaul block, Madhubani district, Bihar. The training, organized by PHIA Foundation with support from the SIDBI Foundation, features Runway India as the knowledge partner.

Runway India is introducing innovative techniques to help 25 women artisans integrate banana fibre with traditional Sikki grass craft, creating globally inspired, market-ready handicrafts.

The workshop focuses on sustainable practices, combining the strength and eco-friendly properties of banana fibre with the artisans’ expertise in Sikki grass. Participants are being trained in crafting a diverse range of products, including bags, home décor, and accessories.

According to an update received here, this initiative not only nurtures innovation but also aims to increase the market value of Madhubani’s handicrafts by incorporating sustainable materials and expanding artisans’ business opportunities.
