The closed-door meeting between the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) delegation and the Ministry of Home Affairs, which began on Monday in Guwahati, concluded on Tuesday evening.

The meeting remained inconclusive on Monday but, according to reports, Tuesday’s meeting ended on a pleasant tone although no written information was exchanged. However, some news outlets claimed that the Centre is expected to grant Autonomous Council to Frontier Nagaland while the ENPO has demanded direct funding from New Delhi rather than through the State government.

Although ENPO was resolute to abstain from the ensuing assembly election until Monday evening, with the meeting concluding on a favorable note on Tuesday, speculations on the likelihood of ENPO reconsidering its election boycott are doing the rounds. However, no official statement from ENPO was received till the time of filing this report.
