Mokokchung, April 12 (MTNews): The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a statutory body of University Grants Commission (UGC), have on Tuesday, April 12, awarded Fazl Ali College with Grade A in its 3rd cycle of accreditation.

 

Fazl Ali College was accredited with a CGPA of 3.1 on a seven point scale at A Grade valid for a period of 5 years. A 3-member NAAC Peer Team had visited the college last week on April 4 and 5 for the assessment.

The college scored 3.1 on a scale of 7; The accreditation will be valid for a period of 5 years.

 

With this NAAC announcement, FAC has become the second government college in Nagaland, after Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma to have accredited Grade A by NAAC.

FAC scored 2.29 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) during the first cycle of NAAC assessment in the year 2009 and was awarded Grade B. In the second assessment, FAC retained its Grade B rating by scoring 2.50 CGPA in 2015.

 

The third cycle of assessment which was scheduled to take place in 2020 was postponed to April 2022 due to the pandemic. The college, after striving towards an improved grade finally achieved Grade A in the third cycle of assessment by NAAC.

 

The information of accreditation was shared by NAAC director Dr SC Sharma with the college principal, Dr. Temjenwapang, through an email on Tuesday morning.

 

As per the guidelines of NAAC, it is mandatory for the college to retain the Self-Study Report (SSR) uploaded on the institutional website for A&A (assessment and accreditation) by NAAC until the completion of validity period of A&A.

 

The SSR along with data templates should not be password protected and accessible to all the stakeholders.

 

The institute is also requested to take note of the mandatory requirement of submitting Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) and uploading it on its website on regular basis.

 

Failing to submit the AQARs annually, the college will not be eligible for the next cycle of accreditation.

 

NAAC is a government organization in India that assesses and accredits Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

 

It is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission and headquartered in Bangalore.
