Khensa, 3 May (MTNews): Feb 29 FC from Dimapur won the 1st Open Futsal Tournament organized by the Khensa Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday. The three-day tournament, held under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), saw the participation of 24 teams from across Nagaland and was hosted at the Asameyaa Futsal Turf in Khensa, Mokokchung.

Feb 29 FC defeated Playoff Pursuit FC in the final match with a score of 3-2. Earlier, Feb 29 FC had defeated Chargers FC, while Playoff Pursuit FC overcame Shaangle in their respective semifinals.

The champions of the inaugural edition of the tournament were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, certificates, and a trophy, while the runners-up team received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with certificates.

Bapen of Playoff Pursuit FC was the Highest Goal Scorer of the tournament, while his compatriot Pursunep was adjudged Player of the Tournament. Mughato of Feb 29 FC was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper. Each of them was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and certificates.

Teams from Dimapur, Tuensang, and Zunheboto, besides Mokokchung, participated in the tournament.

Tiatemsu Mollier, Assistant Professor at Fazl Ali College, graced the closing function of the tournament as the guest of honor.
