A group of 24 students from FGI College of Agricultural Sciences, Henbung, Kangpokpi, Manipur, accompanied by two faculty members, embarked on an educational tour to the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, on February 24.
During their visit, the students explored various specialized project units and departments within the institution. They visited the Entomology Insect Museum, where they learned about the diverse world of insects, as well as the Plant Pathology Disease Museum, which provided insights into plant diseases. Furthermore, they engaged with the technical staff at STINER-TFC, where they observed demonstrations on banana fiber extraction and the production of value-added products. They were also briefed on several innovative technologies related to the project.
To further enhance their educational experience, the students visited the All India Coordinated Research Project on Honeybee Pollinators. Here, they gained valuable knowledge about the scientific methods of rearing honeybees, the role of various pollinators in sustainable agriculture, and observed honey processing methods. The visit included an interactive learning session that deepened their understanding and appreciation for the innovative research and methodologies being pursued in the agricultural sector. Faculty members and technical staff provided detailed briefings on the various departments involved in the program.
