Kohima, July 12 (MTNews): The Nagaland Football Association has on Tuesday drawn the group fixtures of the district football associations for the forthcoming 2nd Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022.

 

 

The fixture was drawn at the NOA office in Kohima during the Nagaland Football Association’s annual general meeting in the presence of the district football associations’ representatives.

 

According to NFA President K Neibu Sekhose, the football tournament will begin on August 17, one week before the main event, which will commence on August 22. It will be contested in a league-cum-knockout format.

 

The teams have been divided into four groups with four teams each.

Group A: Dimapur, Wokha, Zunheboto, Peren

Group B: Shamator, Tuensang, Mon, Kohima

Group C : Tseminyu, Kiphire, Noklak, Mokokchung

Group D: Phek, Chümoukedima, Longleng, Niuland.

 

The meeting also deliberated on the bylaws of the upcoming tournament. The matches will be played at IG Stadium Kohima. Dimapur district are the defending champions while Phek district was the runner up in the first edition.

 

Meanwhile, it was also informed that Nagaland Futsal Championship 2022 will be hosted by Kohima in the month of September where all the districts will send a club each to represent the district.

 

It was also announced that the Tuensang District Football Association will host the next edition of Dr T Ao Inter District Football Trophy 2023.

 

The president in a presentation also mentioned that State League 2023 and senior women’s football championship 2023 are also in the pipeline.

 

Mention may be made that Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games are scheduled to be held from 22nd to 27th August in Kohima and Dimapur.
