The State Foundation Day of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura was celebrated with great fervor at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, commemorating the establishment of these states as distinct entities in 1972. The event was graced by the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, along with dignitaries, representatives, and cultural performers from the three states.

In his address, Governor Ganesan extended warm greetings and best wishes to the citizens of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura on behalf of the people of Nagaland. He remarked that the day is one of pride and reflection, celebrating the unique identity, history, and contributions of these states. “The resilience, diversity, and spirit of the people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura have enriched India’s cultural tapestry with their traditions, art, music, and festivals,” he said.
Highlighting the shared bonds among the Northeastern states, the Governor praised the contributions of citizens from these states residing in Nagaland. He emphasized their role in strengthening the state’s social and cultural fabric through active participation in education, business, arts, and social service.
Governor Ganesan acknowledged the significant progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship across the Northeastern region in recent years. He encouraged continued collaboration among the states to address challenges like connectivity, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development, stressing the importance of unity for regional and national progress.
The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances from the three states, including songs by the Maram Union and Manipuri Cultural Society, Manipuri dance by Nabarum Laishram, and presentations by Zeme and Zeliang Hoho. Representatives from the three states delivered speeches, with Dihe Mao (Manipur), Dr. Luke Rymbal (Meghalaya), and Nabarun Ghosh (Tripura) sharing their reflections.
Joint Secretary to the Governor, Mhomo Tungoe, delivered the welcome address, while Under Secretary to the Governor, Kevingozo Visa, proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to unity and progress, celebrating the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” that defines the Northeast and India as a whole.
