The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, made his official visit to Tuensang District on 26th November 2024 and held a meeting with the Heads of Departments and civil society organizations of Tuensang town at the DC Conference Hall, Tuensang.

The Governor expressed his delight in visiting the historical district known as the Land of Culture, stating that it had been his desire to interact with the people of Tuensang. He was pleased to meet the brave and progressive people of Tuensang, acknowledging that the district has endured hardships while also striving to keep pace with socio-economic development in a short span of time. He also expressed happiness in learning about the progress of education in the district, where the literacy rate was only 52.15% in 2001, but had made a significant leap to 73.70% by 2011. He added that with the efforts of both the Central and State Governments, economic disparities would be addressed with effective development strategies.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted that, despite agriculture being one of the predominant occupations in the state, most farmers are subsistence farmers. He urged the Agriculture and Allied Departments to ensure that farmer-focused schemes like the PM Kisan Scheme, Soil Health Card Scheme, and Kisan Credit Card are made accessible to the farmers. On the health sector, the Governor stressed the importance of healthcare in the district and encouraged the implementation of schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. He also emphasized the importance of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025.

The Governor urged the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme benefits every citizen in the district. He also highlighted the importance of banking services, noting that every eligible citizen, especially women, should have a Jan Dhan account to avail themselves of banking facilities.

The Governor called on the people of Tuensang to actively support the efforts to combat the drug menace, which poses a threat to the younger generation.

During the program, departmental activities were presented by PHED, DRDA, CMO, and DAO. The welcome address was delivered by DC Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, and a short speech was made by MLA and Chairman of DPDB Tuensang, Lima Onen Chang. Later, the Governor held a security coordination meeting with security personnel.
