Congress has announced their star campaigners for the 2024 Lok Sabha election in Nagaland, which includes INC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others.
Responding to this, Congress Vice President, Captain GK Zhimomi, told Mokokchung Times, “With the first phase of polling scheduled on the 19th and a limited 16-day window, we must make the most of our star campaigners. Time is premium.”
Zhimomi also expressed hope that Nagas will vote differently in the Lok Sabha election compared to the state assembly elections. “In the assembly election, voters have different compulsions like village, clan etc. However, in the Lok Sabha election, the national narrative is gaining prominence, and we anticipate a shift in voting behavior,” he explained.
“Given the accessibility to information, especially regarding issues like the persecution of religious minorities, Nagas, as a religious minority themselves, are particularly aware. Our people should come to reality and realize the importance of defending our culture and way of life.”
Highlighting the strengths of the Congress campaign, he added, “Apart from advocating secularism, we are focusing on social justice, the assurance of five key guarantees, and 25 sub-guarantees. Our manifesto will be announced this Saturday.”
