Wokha, 16 May (MTNews): In a joint statement, the Wokha Village Youth Organization urged the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha to intervene in the road construction along NH-2 (formerly NH-61) within six days.

The Wokha Village Youth Organization through a joint representation with Wokha village council, Wokha Village Women Organization, Wokha Village Students’ Union and Wokha Village Elders’ Forum submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner Wokha urging the administration to take action in accordance with the necessary specifications of works on the ongoing NH-61 (NH-2) from 72.40 KM to 83.00 KM (Wokha Town).

The organizations also requested urgent attention from Deputy Commissioner Wokha, claiming that the ongoing work does not meet the requirements in several locations.

The organizations also asked that the problem be resolved within six days and threatened to block the highway “if necessary.” They further said that the issue was started because it had a substantial impact on the lives, safety, and overall progress and development of the Wokha District.
