Dimapur-based part-time content creator and YouTuber Kewe Mero has raised Rs 4,66,606 in six days through a social media fundraising campaign to support the medical treatment of Bendangla Jamir, a 26-year-old lupus patient from Mokokchung district currently residing at Diphupar B, Dimapur.

Bendangla has been undergoing treatment at Apollo Excelcare Hospital, Guwahati, where doctors advised her to undergo follow-up check-ups every three months. However, financial difficulties prevented her family from taking her for the scheduled follow-up in February, and she has not been able to return for treatment since.
Her parents, who work as caretakers at a local church, have struggled to meet the family’s medical expenses. The family subsequently approached Mero for assistance.
Mero launched the fundraising drive through his YouTube and Instagram platforms from the evening of August 1 to August 7. His appeal received widespread attention and contributions from members of the public, enabling the campaign to raise Rs 4,66,606 within six days.
This is not Mero’s first fundraising campaign. He has previously mobilised public support for people facing serious medical and financial difficulties. In May 2025, he raised Rs 13,14,059 in four days for a three-year-old leukemia patient. He also raised Rs 9,64,018 for a brain tumour patient in August 2025 and Rs 4,30,447 for another lupus patient in 2024.
“I am deeply moved by the generosity of everyone who came forward to help,” Mero said. “Your contributions will make a significant difference in Bendangla’s life. Thank you for keeping Bendangla in your prayers.”
A sociologist by academic background, Mero studied at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Bosco College of Teacher Education. He received the Knowledge Creator Award at the Nagaland Influencers Summit 2025.
His latest campaign highlights the potential of social media to mobilise collective support for people in urgent need of medical assistance.
