The Kohima Longsa Senso Telongjem (Kohima Longsa Union) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on May 10, 2025, at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, under the theme “Towards Wider Horizons.” Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, A Nyamnei Konyak and Benei M Lamthiu, both in-laws of Longsa village, graced the event as special guests.

In their addresses, the special guests spoke about their close ties with Longsa village, describing how they considered themselves part of the community. They encouraged attendees to continue building bridges and strengthening old bonds.
The keynote address was delivered by former Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir on the theme “Towards Wider Horizons.” He emphasized the importance of stepping beyond comfort zones and embracing new challenges with a global vision. Highlighting the rapid pace of technological advancement, he encouraged the gathering to stay abreast of changing times and adapt to evolving technologies.
Dr S Rongsen Longkumer, Convener of the Resolution Committee, read out the Jubilee resolution, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Merentoshi R. Jamir, Convener of the Jubilee Planning Committee.
A special song commemorating the Jubilee was performed by the Longsa Ao Süngküm Zünga, Kohima.
The program was chaired by the office bearers of the Union. The Jubilee began with a song specially composed for the occasion by the Longsa Kaketshir Telongjem (Students), followed by a brief narration about the history of the Union. A time capsule, sealed during the 25th anniversary, was also opened at the start of the program. Rev Sentisashi Aier, Senior Pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, invoked God’s blessings. The welcome address was delivered by the Union President, Lanuakum Jamir.
The Jubilee program was also attended by Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Süpongmeren Jamir, who delivered a short exhortation. Presidents of the Kohima Ao Telongjem and Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem, along with the Chairman of the Longsa Village Council, shared brief messages. Takamanen Jamir gave a short reflection on the inception and growth of the Union over the years.
The celebration concluded with the sealing of a new time capsule to be opened during the 75th anniversary, followed by a mass prayer.
