Ukhrul, 16 June (MTNews): In a significant development, the Eastern Kuki Chiefs’ Association (EKCA) and Kuki Chiefs’ Association Ukhrul (KCAU) have once again expressed their endorsement of the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and National Socialists Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) on 3rd August 2015.

 

 

It is worth noting that the EKCA has been supporting the Framework Agreement since 2017, but they have reaffirmed their support in a press release issued on 13 June 2023.

 

 

“We, the Kuki People of Kamjong, hereby reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Framework Agreement that was signed between the two parties, as we had decided in the past,” the statement read. They expressed their desire for an early solution to the Naga issue in order to foster peace and prosperity in the region.

 

 

The EKCA also stated that they have been supporting the Kuki Tribal Union (KYU/NSCN) in the past and will continue to support and cooperate with them in the future.

 

 

Likewise, the Kuki Villages Chief in Ukhrul District, under the umbrella of the Kuki Chief Association, Ukhrul District Manipur, declared their support for the FA signed on 3rd August 2015. They assured continued cooperation and support for both the Kuki Tribal Union, KTU/NSCN/GPRN, in the future.

 

 

“The Association also wishes for an early solution to the long pending Naga issue for peace and prosperity in the Region,” stated the press release issued on 13 June, 2023.
