The new building of Little Friends Montessori & Kindergarten Teachers Training Institute was inaugurated on Saturday at Tzüsapang Sector, Mokokchung village, with the president of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), Lanutoshi Aier, as the special guest.

The proprietor of the institute, Lima Lemtur, in his introductory note, mentioned that he and his wife started a Montessori center in 2010 at Longpayimsen. Later, in 2017, it was named Little Friends Montessori, coinciding with the start of their kindergarten teacher training program. Today, the institute offers a Diploma Course for candidates from Class 12 and above, and a Certificate Course for Class 10 pass candidates.

Speaking at the event, the AKM president said that Montessori centers play a crucial role in shaping children during their formative years, instilling lifelong values. He said that such centers are vital pillars of society. He also noted a concerning trend where many households employ housemaids and helpers, potentially hindering children from learning essential life skills or values. This, he feared, was exacerbated by the negative impact of mobile phones on children’s lives. In response, he encouraged the Little Friends Montessori & Kindergarten Teachers Training Institute to prioritize teaching life lessons alongside academics.

The dedicatory prayer for the new premises of the institute was pronounced by Rev W Supong, pastor, Tzüsapang Baptist Church while Chairman of Mokokchung Village Council, L Mapu Longkumer delivered a short speech. Rev Imti, pastor, Mokokchung Baptist Church and Rev Lima Lemtur, pastor, Union Church, Fazl Ali College Campus offered the invocation and benediction prayers, respectively.

Toshisangla, Assistant Professor, Fazl Ali College, led the proceedings of the event.
