MDT20CF 7th Master Shield Trophy: Day 2

Mokokchung, March 14 (MTNews): Day 2 of the 7th edition of the Master Shield Trophy organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation ended with Skylark and Team Fuzz registering wins on Tuesday.

The first match of the day was played between KPEDEN and Skylark where the former won the toss and elected to bat first, managing to post less than run a ball 115 runs with the contributions of Nchumbemo and Nzanthung posting 29 and 26 runs respectively, while Skylarks’ Nagaho and Merenti took out 3 and 2 wickets each ending the KPEDEN inning with 115 for 9 wickets in 20 overs.

 

In reply, Skylarks’ Sedezhalie and Moakumzuk posted 41 and 35 runs each to help the side win the match while KPEDEN’s Phyodemo and Renjamo picked 4 and 1 wickets respectively. Skylarks’ Sedezhalie was awarded the man of the match title as the side went on to win the match with 6 wickets as they posted 117 for 4 wickets in 16.4 overs.

 

In the second match of the day between Trebuchet and Team Fuzz, the former won the toss and elected to bat first. Trebuchet’s Nehal posted the first half century of the day as he posted 54 runs and his brother Nripen contributed 22 to the side’s total score of 135 for 6 wickets in 20 overs while Team Fuzz’s Raja and Santosh took out 2 wickets each.

 

Team Fuzz’s Hem Bahadur troubled his opponents as he posted 61 runs in 33 balls smashing 6 sixes and 9 fours. Although Trebuchet’s Nehal and Anoksangba took out 4 and 2 wickets each, the side was unable to restrict the batsmen as Team Fuzz managed to score 137 for 7 wickets in 18 overs, winning the match by 3 wickets. Hem Bahadur was awarded the man of the match title.
