The 7th edition of the Master Shield Trophy organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDT20CF) got underway on Monday with defending champions Trebuchet CC and debutants Dynamic Sports Active registering wins in their respective opening games.

The first match of the day was played between defending champions Trebuchet CC and All Starz 11 where the latter won the toss and elected to field first.
Put in to bat first, Trebuchet riding on contributions from Chambo (47), Menchet (39) and Redish (28) managed to score a commanding total of 175 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. All Starz’ Imtiwabong and Sentiakum picked 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In reply, All Starz 11 were unable to negotiate with the bowling attack of the reigning champions as they were bundled all out in 16.4 overs for just 37 runs. All Starz’ Supong managed to score the highest for the side with 11 runs while Trebuchet’s Imnayanger, Sentiwapang and Redish took 2 wickets each. Trebuchet won the match by 138 runs. Trebuchet’s Redish was awarded the man of the match for his all-round performance.
The second match of the day was played between Team KPEDEN and Dynamic Sports Active (DSA) where the latter won the toss and elected to bat first. DSA posted 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs with notable contributions from Andrew (58) and Rahul Kumar (41) while Team KPEDEN’s Ponthungo, Chonben and Renchio scalped 2 wickets each. Rahul Kumar’s knock of 41 in just 11 deliveries included five 6s and two 4s.
Team KPEDEN batter Khyothungo’s contribution of 46 was deemed to be in vain as his side were bowled all out for 95 in 17.3 overs. DSA’s Andrew, Bhargav and Dipankar picked 2 wickets each to help their team win by 64 runs. Andrew was awarded the man of the match title.
