Mokokchung, 12 March (MTNews): In a significant move aimed at bolstering nursing education and healthcare services in Nagaland, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to elevate the GNM Nursing School in Mokokchung to the status of a B.Sc Nursing College.

The MoU was formalized among five key stakeholders: Doctors For You, the Principal Director of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare in the Government of Nagaland, the Joint Secretary of IDAN, the Additional Secretary of the Department of Health & Family Welfare in the Government of Nagaland, and the Nursing School at District Hospital Mokokchung. This agreement was concluded during the inauguration of the histopathology lab at Naga Hospital Authority in Kohima today.

According to a report from the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), the primary objectives outlined in the MoU include upgrading the GNM Nursing School at IDMH Mokokchung into a B.Sc Nursing College as a model institute for Nursing Education.

Additionally, it aims to strengthen and enhance existing GNM schools to accommodate up to 60 seats in the B.Sc Nursing College at Mokokchung under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The agreement also emphasizes providing comprehensive education, training, and research facilities for nursing education at all levels. Furthermore, it entails conducting research on nursing sciences and manpower development, as well as assisting the state Government in the planning, establishment, management, and assessment of nursing education programs and related activities within a self-sustainable financial model.
