Mokokchung, 2 April (MTNews): The students’ unions of four colleges in Mokokchung District – Fazl Ali College Students’ Union, Peoples College Students’ Union, Tuli College Students’ Union and Jubilee Memorial College Students’ Council organized the ‘2023 Mokokchung District College Students Confluence’ at Fazl Ali College under the theme “Meraki” (the essence of oneness). Alemtemshi Jamir IAS, Rtd. Chief Secretary was the chief guest for the confluence.

The confluence comprised of two secessions. In the first session, Asensor Jamir, Secretary of Social Services FACSU & Convenor Planning Committee MDCSC in his welcome address informed that the formerly ‘Mokokchung District Combined Colleges One-day Event’ has been renamed to “Mokokchung District College Students Confluence” and that the change in nomenclature was to put further emphasis on the coming together and unity of the colleges through the event.

 

The first session was hosted by Ms Imtisenla M Jamir, Asst. Secretary of Social Services, FACSU. The invocation prayer was invoked by Mr Baukup, Vice President, EUFAC. The students of Tuli College presented a special presentation.

 

Dr. I. Wati Imchen, Principal Fazl Ali College, congratulated the students of the four colleges for organizing a beautiful program and encouraged the students to maintain the unity and harmony that they have shown. He also challenged the principals and teachers of the four colleges to learn from the young minds and to organize such conferences for teachers as well.

 

Dr Amongla Longkumer, Principal Peoples College, congratulated the students and spoke on the importance of organizing such meets and keeping people to people connections in the modern world.

 

This was followed by the AKM who encouraged the students to come out of their comfort zones and to be active participants of change and to be students with integrity, vision and dedication.
Following the short speeches, the students of JMC presented a musical piece.

 

The chief guest Alemtemshi Jamir said that he was impressed by the MDCSC and how it provided an interface for college students to interact and exchange ideas and concepts, making minds grow. He went on to speak on the imperatives of identity and competition, reforms, technology, adaptation and God.

 

This was followed by vote of thanks by Miss Wapangsungla Jamir, Convener JMC and benediction by Miss Jungshisangla, President EUPC, followed by a break.

 

The second session was hosted by Mr Nochetlong (Mr Mokokchung 2023-24) and Ms Oditula. The Keynote Address was given by Mr Tushikaba, General Secretary FACSU. He encouraged his fellow students to participate with enthusiasm and to share their talents, abilities and their creativity. He stressed on the importance of the youth to participate and organize such events.

 

This was followed by the various competitions, namely painting, photography, poetry, acapella, cosplay, dance, folk fusion and Battle of the Bands. A surprise appearance was made by Decorum Disaster, the winners of the ANCSU Battle of the Bands 2022.

 

Mr Tiatemjen, General Secretary PCSU in the vote of thanks thanked the patrons of the event, the planning committee and the students for making the meet a success.
This was followed by the declaration of results, benediction by Humsen (CR FACSU) and the closing act by Jubilee Memorial College.
