The adviser asserted that there are myriads of talents in Mokokchung, citing talents like Moanungsang, Tune Up Channel and Imnaienla Jamir, “just to name a few.”

Meru declared that many Naga artists are now touring the country post Covid lockdown, bands such as Trance Effect who have recently concluded their east India tour and that Mokokchung’s own Tune Up Channel have been performing in various cities.

He went on to say that TaFMA hopes the artists to take on the world stage and set bigger targets for musicians and artists to achieve.

On being asked why he chose to attend the World Music Day celebration in Mokokchung among the TaFMA supported events simultaneously happening in the state, he declared “Mokokchung is very close to my heart,” adding that he had been frequenting the town since his band had performed in Mokokchung back in the day.

Meru revealed that more than 300 people were employed for the World Music Day 2022 celebrations, ranging from graphic designers to stall owners to merchandize designers and so on which created an ecosystem from different professions which the department would want to encourage and help them grow. He envisioned that thousands can be employed in that ecosystem if the industry grows bigger.

To revive the music scene in Mokokchung, Meru said that many events such as the one held on Tuesday should be organized providing platforms to local talents and giving the artists the chance to grow.
