The second edition of the Mokokchung District College Students’ Confluence (MDCSC) was held on Wednesday, 24 April, organized by students from Fazl Ali College, Jubilee Memorial College, People’s College, and Tuli College at Fazl Ali College.

The Confluence was themed ‘Metanoia,’ which signifies “The journey of changing one’s mind, heart, self, or way of life; spiritual conversion.”

Dr SC Jamir, Padma Bhushan awardee and former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Governor of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and Odisha, graced the event as the guest of honor.

The keynote address was delivered by Asensor Jamir, Convenor of the Planning Committee and General Secretary of FACSU. He highlighted that the MDCSC is not a new concept but an old concept reimagined one. He said that their focus is not on political interests or pressuring the government for institutional changes but on preparing for the future. He stated that the Confluence aims to explore ways to move forward, achieve goals, and ensure a promising future.

Speaking at the Confluence, Dr SC Jamir advised students to be honest, sincere, hardworking, and to stand for truth. “You are the hope of tomorrow; you are the instrument to design the future of Nagaland,”Dr Jamir said. He encouraged them to maintain a positive attitude and refrain from criticism. He urged students to build a strong foundation for the Naga house with love, faith, unity, and wisdom.

Dr Jamir insisted that students should strive for excellence, adapt to changing times, and not be overwhelmed by the past. He encouraged them to be global citizens and work efficiently with time.

The first session was hosted by Imlibenla B Longkumer. The opening ceremony was conducted by FACSU, and the welcoming address was delivered by Medemren Longchar, Secretary of the Planning Committee and Convenor of JMCSU. The exhortation was given by Akumyala, Vice Principal of JMC.

The formal session was followed by the second session featuring competitions in various categories such as solo performances, folk fusion, acapella, cosplay, dance, painting, ikebana, and poetry writing. The event also featured a performance by the band ‘Stereo Grooves’ as the guest artist.
