A jungle fire broke out near Longmisa village, close to the stone crusher site, in Mokokchung on February 14, burning an estimated three farms before being brought under control.

Mokokchung Fire and Emergency Services received the distress call at around 1:15 pm, following which one crew each from the Mokokchung Fire Station North and South were dispatched to the scene. Villagers also joined the firefighting efforts, helping to douse the flames. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
