The highly anticipated futsal tournament, organized by Dynamic Sports Active Mokokchung, came to a thrilling conclusion Wednesday evening at the Mojabi Futsal Turf. The event, which spanned over two days, saw teams from across the region competing for the coveted trophy. After intense matches and nail-biting moments, the tournament concluded with Chargers FC a local team emerging as the victor in a dramatic finale.

 

The final match was a high-octane showdown between the two best-performing teams in the tournament – the Bulldog FC from Dimapur and the Chargers FC from Mokokchung. The Mojabi Turf was packed with enthusiastic fans, creating an electrifying atmosphere as the players took to the court.

 

Both teams showcased exceptional skills, with quick footwork, precise passing, and impressive goalkeeping. The match was a closely contested and high scoring matchup between the two equally impressive sides with both teams trading goals and attempting to gain an advantage. The tension in the air was palpable as the clock ticked down, and both teams were equally placed until the final minute of the tournament where Chargers FC managed to score a crucial goal, securing a 6-5 win over the Bulldog FC and claiming the championship title.

 

At the closing and prize distribution program, Limatongzuk Jamir, President, Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang, who was the chief patron of the match praised the efforts of the organizers and thanked them for providing the platform to the youths.

 

He also thanked all the participating teams and commended their sportsmanship throughout the event.

 

The futsal tournament also featured several individual awards, including the Best Player, the Best Goalkeeper, and the Most Disciplined Team. These awards were presented to Nungshisashi from Chargers FC, Ngamsi Dailiam from Bulldog FC and Fusion FC respectively.

 

Adding an extra layer of excitement to the event, the all-women exhibition match saw Salangtem ladies and Shooting Stars play the historic match at the Mojabi Futsal Turf where the Salangtem side won the closely contested match 1-0.

 

The Open Futsal Tournament concluded on a high note, with the homegrown Chargers FC emerging as the champions in a thrilling final match. The event brought together 21 teams consisting local teams as well as 6 outstation teams from Kohima, Dimapur and Manipur and showcased the passion and talent for futsal in the local community.
