Mokokchung | 21 September: On 21 September, Mokokchung Police seized two vehicles in the New Camp area while they were en route to Mokokchung with a large quantity of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The seized vehicles included a TATA YODHA (registration number AS03-CC-2834) and a Mahindra Bolero Pick-up (AS03-CC-1570). The drivers, identified as Nobajit Dutta, 27, and Human Dutta, 21, both residents of New Sonowal, Mariani, Assam, were arrested at the scene.
Police recovered a staggering total of 2,880 bottles (750ml) of McDowell’s Rum from the TATA YODHA, while the Mahindra Bolero Pick-up was found to contain 30 cases of McDowell’s (180ml), 45 cases of Kingfisher Can Beer, and an additional 1,140 bottles of McDowell’s Rum (750ml).
A criminal case has been registered against the suspects under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act at Mokokchung Police Station-II, and investigations are currently ongoing.
