All India Congress Committee (AICC) National Coordinator and Nagaland Congress leader Rajesh Kumar Sethi has expressed his “heartfelt appreciation” to the National Highways Department and the contractor for commencing the long-awaited construction of National Highway 36 from Dhobinala Junction to GS Road, extending to Station Road and Tragopan Junction.
Sethi described the project as a “critical infrastructure” development, which is finally being undertaken “after a long gap of over 20 years,” fulfilling a long-pending demand of the people.
As the former Chairman of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Minority Department, Sethi said he had been raising the issue persistently since 2021, making “several representations and tweets to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji’s ministry” and repeatedly issuing reminder tweets. Before this, he recalled that protests were organized in 2020 under the leadership of then-NPCC President K Therie and Dimapur DCC, demanding immediate attention to the neglected road.
“After years of follow-ups, representations, and public outcry, it is truly gratifying to witness this long-overdue roadwork finally taking shape,” Sethi said. He emphasized that this marks a “significant step toward better connectivity and improved infrastructure, addressing a decades-old concern of the people.”
Sethi further acknowledged the “commendable efforts of the National Highways Department in ensuring the project’s execution, along with the contractor’s commitment.” He remarked that their dedication “reflects a commitment to infrastructure development, which will undoubtedly benefit the residents and commuters in the region.”
He also highlighted that this project is “not just about improving roads but also about reaffirming the importance of persistent efforts in achieving tangible progress.” Sethi concluded by expressing his “sincere gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making this much-needed project a reality.”
I love how you addressed this issue. Very insightful!
