Nagaland brought laurels to the state by securing the first position in the Folk Dance Competition at the Northeast NSS Festival hosted by Arunodaya University, Arunachal Pradesh, from June 24 to 28.

Nagaland contingent wins folk dance title at Northeast NSS Festival

The five-day festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers representing all the Northeastern states and aimed to foster unity, leadership, cultural exchange and the spirit of selfless service.

Nagaland was represented by a contingent of 32 NSS volunteers and Programme Officer Sentikala from MGM College, Dimapur. The team actively participated in various competitions and activities throughout the festival.

The contingent’s winning folk dance performance received widespread appreciation from judges and participants for its vibrant portrayal of Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.

Besides the top honour, the volunteers also participated in the Quiz Competition, PowerPoint Presentation and Extempore Speech events, showcasing their intellectual abilities and communication skills.

Describing the achievement as a matter of immense pride, the MGM College fraternity congratulated the volunteers and Programme Officer Sentikala for representing Nagaland with distinction and exemplifying the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You.”
