Mokokchung, 24 March (MTNews): A consultative meeting between AKMWP (Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats), AWUMT (All Ward Union Mokokchung Town), and DUCCF (Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation), along with the 36 town councils of Nagaland, was held at Japfu Hotel, Kohima on 23 March 2024. The meeting was chaired by the president of DUCCF, Zasivikho Zakiesato. After thorough deliberation, the members present at the meeting adopted a set of resolutions by a show of hands, as updated.
The meeting resolved to form a “federation for the welfare of the Municipalities and Town Councils, and the federation shall be named Nagaland Urban Council Federation (NUCF).”
The house also unanimously passed a resolution for the setting up of new office bearers, led by the three municipalities together with the town councils, and also to set up executive members from each district in the newly formed NUCF.
The house further resolved the induction of the new office bearers, which will be headed by AKMWP president Thejao Sekhose as NUCF president; President of AWUMT Limanungsang as NUCF vice president; and President of DUCCF Zasivikho Zakiesato as NUCF general secretary. It was further resolved that the above office bearers “shall look into the drafting of the constitution/bye-laws at the earliest and lay it for approval of the house in the next meeting.” The Headquarters of the NUCF shall be in Kohima, it was resolved.
