Noklak, 1 March (MTNews): The 67th Raising Day of the Nagaland Village Guards was held on 1 March 2024 at the VG Museum cum Memorial Hall in Pangsha in Noklak district with the theme ‘The Guardian of the Frontier Villages’.

Deputy Commissioner & Ex-Officio Commandant, NVG, Noklak, Arikumba, speaking as the Guest of Honour, emphasized the crucial role played by the Nagaland Village Guards in maintaining law and order in the region, in collaboration with the district administration. Arikumba praised the VGs for their tireless efforts in controlling anti-social elements and urged them to continue working for the betterment and progress of the villages, emphasizing the importance of peace and tranquility.

Commandant NVG, Tuensang, Mongkoyanchu, in his brief address, recounted the establishment of the Village Guards at Pangsha in 1957 and advised the guards to fulfill their duties sincerely.
Deputy Commandant NVG, Kiphire, Wanmei Konyak, spoke about the vital role of Village Guards in protecting villages and assisting the district administration in maintaining peace and security. During the event, Yanthong, the sole surviving VG pioneer, was honored.

The program was chaired by Assistant Commandant NVG Tobu, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Commandant NVG, Noklak, Nokchem L.
