Mokokchung, 11 January (MTNews): In a momentous achievement, Meisen Jamir, the daughter of Tali Jamir hailing from Chuchuyimlang village, Mokokchung, has been honored with the prestigious Shanta Keshavan and N Keshavan Endowment Award for her Outstanding Graduation Project at the 43rd Convocation Ceremony of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Meisen’s project, titled “Ladakh Diaries,” stood out among the submissions, earning her the accolade for showcasing an exceptional degree of ideation, innovation, and execution. The coveted award, instituted in 2017, recognizes the best graduation project that adeptly incorporates local symbolism while demonstrating creativity and skill.
The jury lauded Meisen’s unique approach in identifying and utilizing the local symbolism of Ladakh in a contemporary living space. They commended her for skillfully retaining the symbols’ original identity while translating their relevance through her mastery of textile skills. The design elements inspired by local flora and fauna were seamlessly translated into visually striking outcomes through innovative textile design methods.
Chief Guest Pramod Varma, the former Chief Architect of India’s digital identity program Aadhaar and UPI, added prestige to the event by presenting the awards. The chief guest’s presence underscored the significance of Meisen’s achievement in the history of NID.
The Shanta Keshavan and N Keshavan Endowment Award, includes a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh.
