NBSE HSLC, HSSLC Exam 2023 Results Declared

Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has declared the results of the 2023 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations on Wednesday.

In HSLC examination, a total of 17,130 students have qualified out of 24,361 students who enrolled for the exam. Students of private schools in the state outshone those from government institutions with a pass percentage of 91.15%, while the latter yielded a pass percentage of 49.13%. Out of the 4,403 students sitting for the Class 10 board exam again, 1,047 repeaters cleared it.

In Mokokchung, 1,148 students have qualified out of 1,326 students who appeared. The pass percentage for government schools stood at 70%, while the pass percentage for private schools was 92%. In the top twenty positions, six students from Mokokchung were placed in the 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, and two students in the 20th position.

In the HSSLC examination, a total of 23,376 students cleared the board exams conducted for three different streams. Out of a total of 12,431 students in the arts stream, 10,271 cleared the examination, while 2,115 students out of 2437 in the science stream and 1,042 students out of 1214 in the commerce stream cleared the exams.

In Mokokchung, 707 students cleared the HSSLC exam out of 786 students who appeared. Interestingly, government schools fared better in the district with a pass percentage of 89% than private schools with a pass percentage of 88%. In the Top 10 merit list, four students from Mokokchung were placed in the 1st, 5th, 8th, and 9th positions in the arts stream, while one student was placed in the 10th position in the science stream merit list.

Examinations for Classes 10 and 12 were conducted from 9 to 31 March.

Government HSSs outperform private HSSs in Mokokchung

In a rare and interesting outcome, government schools in Mokokchung have outperformed the private schools in the just announced NBSE/HSSLC examination results. According to the official result statistics released today, GHSSs in Mokokchung achieved an impressive pass percentage of 89%, surpassing private higher secondary schools which recorded a slightly lower pass percentage of 88%.

296 students from the 5 GHSSs appeared for the HSSLC exam out of which 265 students successfully cleared it. Mayangnokcha GHSS had the highest number of students that appeared with 153 of which 139 cleared the exam.

Meanwhile, in the private institutions, a total of 490 students from 11 schools appeared for the exam, of which 442 cleared it. Queen Mary HSS had the highest number of students among the private schools at 159 students of which 153 cleared the exam.

Highest HSLC pass percentage in 6 years

The total pass percentage in HSLC has been recorded at 70.32%, the highest in the last 6 years.

The pass percentages during the five previous examinations were 64.69% (2022), 69.42% (2021), 70.03% (2020), 68.29% (2019), and 66.01% (2018).

Girls outperformed boys in the HSLC examination 2023. In the top 20 list, there are 99 candidates out of which 66 are girls and the rest 33 are boys.

140 schools secured 100% pass percentage, out of which 112 are private schools and 28 are government schools. This year, 24 government-run schools have received zero or no results.

The number of candidates who secured 80% and above in aggregate are 2716 out of which only 61 candidates are from government schools.

In terms of district-wise performance for government schools, Kohima district topped the table with a percentage of 73% followed by Mokokchung and Phek districts at 70% and 63%. Shamator district is at the bottom with 6%. Among the private schools, Noklak district is at the top with a percentage of 97% followed by Kohima at 94%.
