Kohima, March 6 (MTNews): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the pre-poll alliance partners, on Monday evening met the governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan at Raj Bhavan, Kohima and staked claim to form the next government.

Chingwang Konyak, NDPP President; Abu Metha, NDPP Secretary General; Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Central Observer BJP and Nalin Kohli, BJP National Spokesperson and Nagaland in-charge met the governor and jointly submitted their claim.

 

The NDPP-BJP delegation also presented to the governor a signed letter of both NDPP and BJP party declaring Neiphiu Rio as the leader of the house.

 

Earlier today, the BJP and the NDPP MLAs also held a joint meeting during which they discussed “various party affairs,” according to Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

Meanwhile, the State Media Cell BJP Nagaland has extended its “warm accord and hearty welcome” to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Home Affairs & Cooperation Amit Shah, and National President JP Nadda who will be arriving in the State for the ‘Swearing-in Ceremony’ of Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet ministers, scheduled to be held on 7 March at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.

 

“The top notch Central leaders’ visit,” the state BJP said, “is necessitated to oversee the oath taking ceremony and the subsequent formation of the new Government of the Alliance partnership where NDPP bagged 25 seats and BJP has retained 12 seats in the recently concluded State Assembly Election.”
