The NSCN-IM has strongly rejected and refuted allegations contained in a recent order issued by the Government of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division), stating that it has been wrongly implicated in a politically sensitive incident without evidence.

In a press release issued by its MIP on Wednesday, the NSCN-IM said the government order “is not a statement of facts; it is an accusation wrapped in the language of authority.”

The organisation alleged that “by casually attributing a grave and politically charged incident to NSCN, the Government of India has once again chosen presumption over proof and narrative over evidence,” adding that such claims amount to “insinuation” rather than investigation.

The statement categorically denied any involvement in the alleged act, including destruction of poppy fields, exchange of fire, or deaths mentioned in the order. It stated that “any claim linking NSCN to these events is unsubstantiated and appears intended to prejudice public opinion before a fair and independent inquiry.”

Clarifying its legal and political status, the group stated that “the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) is not a terrorist or banned organization under Indian law.” It further said the Milan MoU was an instrument to secure peace and dignity for communities affected by decades of conflict.

Calling for adherence to past commitments, the NSCN-IM urged the Government of India “to act decisively, transparently and in good faith to honor its obligations under the 18 November 2002 Milan MoU.”

Concluding its statement, the group rejected the order “in its entirety” and condemned what it termed a “reckless attempt to manufacture guilt without proof,” asserting that truth must not be sacrificed “at the altar of convenience.”
