Mokokchung, 3 December (MTNews): The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has condemned the illegal intrusion that took place on 28 November 2023 by “four unidentified individuals who forcefully raided the residence of an esteemed member of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) in Mokokchung town.”
“Such acts of trespassing and violence are deemed unacceptable in our society, and the OKM emphasizes the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law,” it said.
Furthermore, the OKM expressed concern over the increasing incidents of theft within the town, which it said have created a sense of fear and insecurity among the citizens. “The organization calls upon all law enforcement agencies, civil societies, and concerned citizens to remain vigilant and collaborate in addressing these security challenges,” it added.
To enhance the safety of the citizens, the OKM urged the relevant authorities to implement effective security measures promptly. In this regard, the OKM recommended the installation of street lighting and high-tech CCTV cameras at strategic locations throughout the town. “These measures are essential not only for deterring criminal activities but also for facilitating the identification and apprehension of individuals involved in illegal acts,” it stated.
“The OKM emphasizes the urgency of these security enhancements and hopes that swift action will be taken to create a safer environment for the residents of Mokokchung town,” it said. By working together, OKM said the community and authorities can contribute to the prevention and resolution of such incidents, fostering a secure and harmonious living environment for all citizens.
