Mokokchung, 15 March (MTNews): The Public Works Department-Roads & Buildings (PWD-R&B) in a presentation highlighted several challenges related to stone quarries along roadsides, citing concerns over road damage and landslides during the monthly Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall.

The presentation also delved into various issues including logging and stacking of firewood, unplanned construction of link roads, and haphazard developments along the roadside leading to illegal occupation of spaces.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for pictorial evidence with exact locations of these issues to facilitate prompt action and to resolve the problem. He announced that an order would be issued in the coming days to prohibit such activities.

The Department of Urban Development also presented an overview of their ongoing and upcoming projects through a PowerPoint presentation. They informed the members about the progress of the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PMSVANidhi) Scheme, which provides affordable working capital loans to street vendors. A total of 112 street vendors have availed themselves of the scheme thus far.

The board also approved and forwarded the Chuchuyimlang HiEERA Project to the relevant department for necessary action.

The Deputy Commissioner further instructed all Heads of Departments (HoDs) and employees to remain at their designated posts during the upcoming election period. He emphasized that absences without proper leave would not be tolerated and leave must be addressed directly to the Deputy Commissioner.
