Rtn. Dr. Kameswar Singh Elangbam, District Governor of Rotary International District 3240, paid an official visit to the Rotary Club of Kohima on May 12.

He was accompanied by Rtn. Rabinderjit Singh Panesar, District Polio Chair.
During the visit, the District Governor reviewed various community service initiatives undertaken by the club and appreciated its continued efforts towards social welfare and community development.
He lauded the club’s support to the Cradle Ridge Children Centre run by the Naga Mothers’ Association, where the Rotary Club of Kohima has developed a fruit garden and continues to provide assistance for the welfare of children.
The District Governor also commended the club’s Free Tailoring Unit, describing it as a meaningful initiative for women’s empowerment and livelihood generation. He noted that several women trained under the programme are now independently supporting themselves and their families through the skills acquired at the centre.
He further appreciated the club’s activities under the Basic Education and Literacy focus area, particularly the recognition of teachers through the Nation Builder Award initiative.
In his address, Dr. Elangbam encouraged Rotarians to continue serving society with compassion, empathy, and commitment while aligning their activities with Rotary’s core focus areas.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Rtn. Kevino Savino, President of RCK, while Rtn. Thiala Chang officiated the meeting call to order. Rtn. Fr. Innocent Panmei invoked God’s blessings, and the Ulikhrie Folk Group, Chedema, presented a folk song.
