The highly anticipated performance of Sikkimese band Nightmares, scheduled to headline World Music Day celebrations in Mokokchung on 21 June, has been abruptly canceled due to adverse weather conditions in Sikkim.

The band announced the cancellation through their official Facebook page, expressing deep regret over the unavoidable decision.

In their heartfelt message addressed to their Nagaland fans, Nightmares stated, “Dear Nagaland fans, we are heartbroken to announce that due to severe weather conditions in Sikkim, including heavy rainfall and road closures, we must cancel our show scheduled for June 21st. Your safety and our team’s safety are our top priorities, and we regret any inconveniences this may cause.”

Despite the setback, Nightmares conveyed their sincere gratitude for the support and understanding of their fans in Nagaland, emphasizing the special place the region holds in their hearts. They expressed hope for future opportunities to perform for their loyal audience.

Blend In Events, the organizers of the event, confirmed the cancellation through a press release, stating, “Unfortunately, the famous band Nightmares from Sikkim will not be able to perform due to adverse weather conditions.” However, they reassured music enthusiasts that the festivities would continue with a diverse lineup featuring local talent.

The newly announced lineup for Rockvival 3.0 includes The Rockvival Project, MIMBIT featuring Various Artists, Hailinator, Stereo Groove, BLYTH featuring Rongpangnok Ozukum, and solo artist Tubescreamer.

The Organizing Committee stated that the main objective of this initiative is to provide a platform for the talented musicians of Mokokchung, who have limited opportunities to showcase their skills.

“While the International Hornbill Festival is a prominent event, it does not accommodate many upcoming artists. Therefore, Blend In Events aims to bridge this gap and encourage local talent through Rockvival,” it stated.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA) for their unwavering support in each edition of our event. We also thank our event partners and the individuals who have supported us along the way,” it added.

Blend In Events was founded in 2022 by music enthusiasts Wapang Jamir, Tiatemsu Jamir, and Yanger Lemtur. They began their journey with the first gig of “Trance Effect” at Urban Hub Cafe. Rockvival 1.0 was held on June 21, 2022, in celebration of World Music Day.

They expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event at Imkongmeren Sports Complex and invited music lovers to join them in celebrating World Music Day.

The tickets priced at 200 rupees will be available for purchase at the venue.
