Aseli Sangtam, Vice President, and Thsioli, Executive Chairman of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), along with other members, visited the Government High School (GHS) and the construction site of the village library currently underway in Seyochung.
During the school visit, SVSU members held a discussion with the teaching staff, who shared several concerns affecting the functioning of the school. One key issue raised was the lack of professional training among teachers to support children with special needs. The teachers requested the Union’s help in “raising awareness among parents,” noting that while such children require support, the staff lack the specialized skills to effectively address their needs.
The teachers also urged the Union to play an active role in spreading awareness about the importance of education within the community. “The whole community must work together to ensure the smooth functioning of the school,” they said. They highlighted declining enrollment as a concern and sought SVSU’s assistance in communicating the importance of education to the public.
In response, the Union assured its full commitment to the welfare and growth of the school. It reiterated that SVSU stands ready to support initiatives that improve educational access and quality for all students in Seyochung.
Later, while inspecting the ongoing construction of the village library, workers informed the Union that the project is expected to be completed by June 12, 2025. The SVSU expressed its appreciation to the Department of Art and Culture for supporting rural development through such initiatives.
