Mokokchung, 2 March (MTNews): The TB Forum in Mokokchung District held an interface meeting at the DC Conference Room today. Dr Toshila Jamir, the District TB Officer, presented a PowerPoint presentation on awareness activities conducted by the District TB programme.

The TB Forum serves as a bridge between the community, TB patients, health workers, and civil society, aiming to provide accessible and affordable TB services to the entire population, with a special focus on the poor and vulnerable groups. Members of the forum include doctors, NGO workers, DRDA representatives, the District Welfare Officer, and representatives from various departments.

During the interface meeting, strategies for engaging communities in creating awareness and advocacy were discussed, with a focus on periodic reviews of the progress of community involvement.

While highlighting the concerns and needs of TB patients, stakeholders were also advised to advocate for greater and more equitable access. Discussions on creating and managing resources for sustainability were held, with stakeholders like the Social Welfare Officer expressing willingness to extend support in facilitating nutritional assistance according to the department’s provisions.

The Assistant Commissioner, Ajit Kumar IAS, assured that he would correspond with all concerned stakeholders for the dissemination of information and the facilitation of nutrition.
