The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) held its executive council meeting with frontal organisations on May 15 at Shilloi Lake in Meluri district.

The meeting was addressed by Gwasinlo Thong, president of Rengma Hoho; Vezühü Keyho, president of Chakhesang Public Organization; Thejao Vihienuo, president of Angami Public Organization; and Enchang Hiaka, general secretary of Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation.

The meeting was chaired by TUN president Kekhwengulo Lea, while Atathu Thurr invoked God’s blessings.

The welcome address was delivered by Chonpa Jurry, president of Pochury Hoho.

A folk song was presented by the Chakhesang Mother’s Association, while the treasurer’s report was presented by Mishento Apon, treasurer of TUN.

The closing prayer was pronounced by Zhonelü Tunyi, president of Tenyimi Women Union Nagaland.

TUN also undertook an avocado plantation drive in the surroundings of Shilloi Lake.

The team later visited the International Trade Centre at Avangkhu.

On May 16, TUN commemorated Naga Plebiscite Day at Shilloi Lake.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Tumda Newme, while Vecüto Dozo, vice president of CPO, pronounced the prayer.

Addressing the gathering, Razouvotuo Chatsu, convenor of the Advisory Board, TUN, said, “The Naga Voluntary Plebiscite is an impeccable record that stands as a living testament in support of our established position as an independent Nation. Therefore, we are supposed to uphold the legacy left behind by our passed leaders.”

“In order to protect our identity as a nation, we are to follow the path and stand on the foundation laid by the pioneers of our national movement,” he said.
