The Satakha Town Youth Organisation (STYO) on Tuesday unveiled the “I Love Satakha” landmark along National Highway-702A as part of its town beautification initiative.

The landmark was installed on land donated by the children and family of late Hoshivi Tuccu Yepthomi of Satakha Village.

The dedication programme was attended by local leaders, Gaon Buras, councillors of Satakha Town Council, community members and guests, including personal assistants to ministers.

Aronto Y. Jimo, Personal Secretary to the Minister for Roads and Bridges, Nagaland, inaugurated the landmark at a formal programme held at General K. Zuheto Swu Memorial Hall, Satakha. Pastor Vitoka Zhimo of Satakha Town Baptist Church, Aizuto, offered the dedication prayer.

Addressing the gathering, Jimo conveyed greetings from the Office of the Minister for Roads and Bridges and praised STYO for undertaking what he described as a historic initiative for the community.

“We must improve our quality of life through active, physical participation, by sacrificing time and energy and working together to compete and collaborate with the wider Naga community,” he said.

He also urged the people to take ownership of public infrastructure and development activities in the area.

STYO president Ikupu Tuccu said the organisation, formed in 2017, had identified the landmark installation as one of its major projects.

“Today this vision has become a reality,” he said, while urging the community to work collectively for local development instead of depending entirely on government support.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Satakha, Chumlamo Humtose, NCS, commended STYO for mobilising voluntary contributions and community participation for the project. He also encouraged efforts toward making Satakha a plastic-free zone.

Deputy Chairperson Veto V. Zhimomi also appreciated STYO for its initiative in beautifying the town.
