Kohima, 13 June (MTNews): Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) has selected five players to represent Nagaland at the 32nd Senior National Wushu Championship 2023 scheduled to be held from 26 June to 1 July in Pune, Maharashtra.

 

 

A total of 12 players turned up for the selection trial held at IG Stadium, Kohima on Tuesday. The selected players are Rakesh Mahato (70kg), Shemele Rhakho (56 kg), Kethosilie Kuosa (52kg), Atokivi T Chishi (60kg) and Keyisuiding Lungalang (75 kg). The team will be led by Gabriel Khamo as team coach and Azhove Resu as team manager. This was informed in a press release from NWA on Tuesday.

 

During a brief event in Kohima, Akhozo, Vice president, NWA encouraged the players to give dedication and effort to bring laurels to the state. He assured the players that the association will give their best effort in promoting the game in every possible way. Adding that wushu is still at an infant stage in Nagaland, he informed that more coaching camps will take place to introduce the game in the state.

 

Akhozo added that NWA president and Advisor CAWD & Taxes, Kudecho Khamo was serious about wushu promotion in the state under his tenure. He said the president has set his goal to let Nagaland produce national medalists in wushu. To this, he asked the participants to set their goal high to achieve success in their venture.
