Wokha, February 5 (MTNews): Intending candidate for the upcoming Nagaland assembly election from 38-Wokha assembly constituency, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe on Saturday declared his candidature at a short program held at Wokha village public ground. Humtsoe will contest on a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket. A dedication of the party ticket and prayer for the candidate was said by Rev O Thungben Kikon pastor, Wokha Village Baptist church.

During the dedication and declaration program, Humtsoe while delivering his speech said that he is contesting election with the spirit of ‘one for all and all for one’, and he assured that no one will be left behind if he is elected to power without any differences of village, range or clan in his assembly constituency, 38-Wokha.

 

YM Humtsoe will contest the upcoming NLA election with an NCP ticket against Renponthung Ezung of BJP and N Wobenthung Lotha of Congress. Dr Chumben Murry is the sitting MLA from the constituency who in 2018 defeated YM Humtsoe of JD(U) and Dr TM Lotha of BJP.

 

Dr. Murry had on Sunday announced that he won’t be contesting the Nagaland Assembly Election 2023.

Murry said that he was “hoping to serve another term” but cited “sudden unforeseen circumstances and events” for not participating in the ensuing election in a video message.
He added that he won’t be leaving politics, and would continue to work for the uplift and betterment of the Lotha community.
