Mokokchung, July 7 (MTNews): A one-day workshop on “Plastic Free July – II” was held under the theme “Be a part of the solution” at Cradle Point, above Hotel Metsüben, organized by Eco Club of Fazl Ali College and Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) of Mokokchung on Thursday.

 

An update from the organizers said that, through creative thinking and productive partnerships within the community during the Plastic Free July, the Eco Club of Fazl Ali College in collaboration with the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) of Mokokchung came up with solution to repurpose old clothes, used banners and waste papers into reusable bags and items.

 

Highlighting the essence of “Plastic Free July,” the update said that it is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. “Events and workshops are popular ways to bring the community together, create a shared purpose and connect people with solutions to avoiding plastic waste,” it said.

 

“Let us start the plastic-free journey from the inside out, turning a waste problem into a reusable solution. Start small by looking at the simple changes we can make to our everyday habits. It’s not only about plastic but it’s about becoming a part of the sustainable movement. As we go along the sustainable journey let us find solution and life hacks that suits us,” the update further read. This is the second time that the YWCA is observing Plastic Free July.
